Decision making responsibility, or previously referred to as child custody, is how major decisions are made for a child which include religion, education, medical and extra-curricular activities. If parties have joint decision making responsibility for a child then they must make major decision together about the child.

On occasion a party may have sole decision making responsibility for a child which means that they make all major decisions for the child on their own and do not require the other party’s consent.
